I picked up these two Drexel French shaped chairs at good ol’ GW the other day for $8 a piece. I was musing on the Twice Lovely Facebook Fan Page that when I get pieces like this, I always oscillate between a desire to play up the lovely frenchiness in a traditional and beautiful way, and a desire to go outside the box and unexpected and take something very traditional, and make it fantastically funky. This time, I could not deny the the stunning french shape of this pair, so I decided to … [Read more...] about French Gray Chairs
I’ve been teasing you with this fancy desk for ages, especially if you’re a Twice Lovely Facebook Fan. (And if you’re not, why the heck not?!?! You too can be privy to all the juicy, pre-blog sneak peeks.) Like many other pieces in my workshop, I picked it up right before the Christmas holidays came and struck me down for the count with morning all-day sickness. It might hurt some of you if I said how much I got it for, so we’ll just say “not enough.” ;) Check out this … [Read more...] about The Fancy Desk
So, you may remember this pair of fantastically French arm chairs I picked up a few weeks ago. Even though upholstery and working with fabric gives me hives and makes me curse, I absolutely could NOT pass them up, since I snagged both chairs and an additional armless French chair for a total of $15 at my favorite local thrift store. The second of these chairs in still in process, but I finished up one so I could share it with you good people. :) I painted the frame a high gloss white. … [Read more...] about Fabulous French Arm Chairs
My good friend and best client, Diane (the one who loves and owns all of my metallic work) contacted me to say she was on the lookout for a cool desk. I happened to come across this very cool desk for a reasonable price at Goodwill, so the project was on!! It’s got neato wood casters and everything! Diane wanted it done to match her (twice) lovely Antiqued Champagne Gold Nightstands with dark walnut stained top, and I was more than happy to oblige. We have to keep these repeat customers … [Read more...] about A Champagne Gold desk for Diane

You all remember my post a while back about sorting through my 2 year old little girl’s fall/winter clothes and cleaning out what we didn’t need or wouldn’t fit? Well, as I went through the shoes, I found that we have a serious lack of shoes that are going to fit her rapidly growing feet! The incredibly gracious people at CSN have generously offered to send me some appropriately sized shoes for my poor little shoeless girl. Did you know they had shoes? I didn’t. And they’re super cute!! If … [Read more...] about Poor Shoeless Girl & the Long-awaited Sprayer
I got a killer deal on this solid wood armoire off of Craigslist. I actually had to write the lady back and make sure it wasn’t a typo. “Just to be sure before I drive half an hour to and from picking up this sucker, it is $15? Right?” “Yes. It’s missing the doors.” “I’ll take it!” YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: Thrifty Theatrics of the Puppet Sort A Funky Lamp Transformation and Tutorial Funky Harlequin Side Table I got some MDF cut to size for the doors. I found a queen size broken pediment headboard and footboard set the other day at a local thrift store for $10. (The DAV, or Disabled American Veterans Thrift Store is a great one in Prescott, AZ. I ALWAYS find great deals there.) I decided it would make an absolutely fantastic headboard bench. I already started choppin’ when I remembered to take this picture. (By the way, the Metallic Secretary Desk you see in the background of this picture sold this week!! Yay! And the woman also bought … [Read more...] about Pediment Headboard Bench
I’m so excited with how this project turned out! And I had Cara back over collaborating on this one, so good times were had all around. :) It all started with a waterfall dresser I picked up at Goodwill for $12. It had certainly seen better days. As you can see, the veneer was coming off in several places on the drawers. Cara and I threw a few ideas back and forth before deciding to do the dresser along with a twin headboard and footboard that Cara had to be a vintage aviator/military … [Read more...] about Boy’s Aviator Room Set
