This story begins a couple of weeks ago, when I spotted a pair of chairs on the local Craigslist. They were certainly unique. I had never come across anything like them before. And they were cheap, which is always an intriguing factor for me as well. I’ll admit, I wasn’t completely in love with them at first. In fact, I couldn’t decide if I loved and had to have them or if they repulsed me, so I threw the pic up on the Twice Lovely Facebook page asking for opinions, and BOY OH BOY did I get … [Read more...] about Hollywood Regency Bamboo Chairs
I had some pressed-back oak chairs sitting around in my workshop forever!! Someone gave them to me for free back when I’d never turn down free. (I’ve learned to be a little more discriminating in what I’ll take up valuable workshop space with.) They weren’t in good shape to begin with. The wood on the seats was split, and grew more so over months of sitting in the workshop. The legs had been chewed by a dog. Overall, completely yucky! But I have such a hard time throwing things away! I … [Read more...] about Chair Back Headboard and Giveaway!
I’ve been quite a busy little bee the last few days, and I have a lot of little tid bits to share, but I didn’t want this project to get lost in the shuffle, so I thought it deserved it’s own post. The story begins a long, long time ago (I do believe it was in October, if my steel trap memory serves me correctly, and it usually does.) ;) Cara picked up this sad little table with a spinning top at a yard sale for a buck or two. It’s been sitting in my workshop ever since waiting for … [Read more...] about Funky Game Table and Chairs
So, you may remember this pair of fantastically French arm chairs I picked up a few weeks ago. Even though upholstery and working with fabric gives me hives and makes me curse, I absolutely could NOT pass them up, since I snagged both chairs and an additional armless French chair for a total of $15 at my favorite local thrift store. The second of these chairs in still in process, but I finished up one so I could share it with you good people. :) I painted the frame a high gloss white. … [Read more...] about Fabulous French Arm Chairs
I’ve had this pair of chairs sitting in my workshop for quite a while. They were a gift from Diane, my friend with the proclivity to my metallic work. :) (She is the owner of the Metallic Secretary, the Antiqued Champagne Gold Nightstands, and the Palette of Metallics Set.) I loved the leg detail, but they sat waiting for just the right inspiration. SEE ALSO: Funky Harlequin Side Table Armoire, with a twist! A met a woman some time ago now who contacted me to buy the Lady’s Sitting Chair that was one of our first posts on the blog. She loved the chair and wanted to build a mismatched dining set around it, with eight chairs (seven more) and a table made from a (big) old door. We’re still on the lookout for the old door to suit, but we’ve finally finished searching for and refinishing the chairs. Now, in my humble opinion, it’s difficult to pull off just throwing a bunch of different chairs around a … [Read more...] about Shabby Elegant Dining Set
