I’ve had this pair of chairs sitting in my workshop for quite a while. They were a gift from Diane, my friend with the proclivity to my metallic work. 🙂 (She is the owner of the Metallic Secretary, the Antiqued Champagne Gold Nightstands, and the Palette of Metallics Set.) I loved the leg detail, but they sat waiting for just the right inspiration.
Then, at dollar day at Goodwill the week before last, I picked up this great side table (yes, for $1!!)
I thought the shape of the legs complemented the chairs perfectly and would make a great little grouping! I believe it was the same day of thrift shopping that I picked up the side table, I also snagged some fantastic vintage fabric in the form of a table cloth that I immediately fell in love with. It looks so fresh and modern, something that looks like it could have been plucked out one of Amy Butler’s lines! It went on the seat cushions, and I have plenty left over. I think I might do up some throw pillows to match. I painted the chairs and the base of the table an icy blue color called Glacial Pool (cool name!) and did some heavy shabby distressing revealing the dark wood tones underneath. I also stripped the finish on the table top and stained it dark. (I used Minwax Hickory Gel Stain, but it ended up too brown for what I wanted, so I did a black glaze over the stain. Much better!)
I have a pair of long, tall mirrors that I’m thinking of experimenting with a layered paint application to coordinate with this set as well. I picked up a green paint that is almost a perfect match for the leaves in the fabric in the Home Depot mistint section. It’s a 5 gallon bucket and it was FREE!!!! I didn’t even know they did that?!?!?! I don’t know if I’ll ever see the end of a 5 gallon bucket of leafy green paint, but it was free!! Come on!! (BTW, if anyone wants to paint anything green… ever… come on over!) 🙂 Still busy, busy, busy getting things ready to bring to the Vintage Market in Camp Verde the weekend after next. If you are anywhere in AZ, the trip will be well worth making to see awesome stuff for sale there. Bring a truck and a man, because there’s going to be lots of furniture. 🙂 Christa from Stories of a House is coming, as well as Cassie from reUse * reInvent * reDesign, and Tara from junkrestore. It’s going to be a lot of fun!! Please come see us! Linking to: House of Grace, Domestically Speaking, Primitive and Proper, My Backyard Eden, Coastal Charm
