I came across this little side table the other day at the Habitat Re-Store. It’s nothing like anything I’ve ever seen before, and for $7, I really couldn’t pass it up. You can see why it caught my eye: So fun! I hit ‘er with some Semi-gloss White Rustoleum spray paint, and did those fabulous pulls with some ORB. Then it sat, needing something. But what? Then I saw this post yesterday from Jenifer of The Magic Brush. She added some pizzaz to a jewelry chest with a great harlequin stencil … [Read more...] about Funky Harlequin Side Table
I’m back! You miss me? And do I have a great project to share today! But first, some very exciting news! I’m guest posting on one of my favorite blogs today! Beckie at Infarrantly Creative has graciously invited us on over to her place to share what we do with her readers! If you haven’t seen Beckie’s blog, you really must. I love it. So onto the latest project… I recently acquired a solid oak, round pedestal table and a set of four wrought iron chairs from two separate Roadkill Rescues. … [Read more...] about Red Hand-painted Dining Set
During my same Goodwill Dollar Day excursion last week, I picked up this fantastic lamp, marked $18.99 for one little eensy weensy dollar. (Squeal!!) The harp with a great brass finial to match the brasswork on the lamp was also a dollar, and the shade also a dollar. Get out your calculators! With the fabric, paint, and ribbon already on hand, that brings the total for this project to a whopping $3. Shut up!! I know!!! Here’s her beginnings (I almost forgot to take the before pic! You’ll … [Read more...] about A Funky Lamp Transformation and Tutorial
Sorry I’ve been MIA again. Last week was a whirlwind, which carried into this week, and I’m just now getting my stuff together enough to post. Saturday the 17th, Cara and I set up for our first try at a big furniture sale. We set up at a community wide yard sale day in a large, local subdivision. It was a gorgeous day. We were excited. But the crickets chirped, we had few visitors, and didn’t make a single sale. I was about ready to throw in the towel. How can we keep doing this if no … [Read more...] about A Custom Set for an Eclectic Salon
Cara and I are preparing for our first big furniture sale at a community yard sale day this Saturday, so we’re busy, busy, busy finishing up some last projects and getting stuff together, but I thought I’d post the reveal of the chair and end table that I teased you with the other day. If you remember, the horrid 70’s-ness of the duo: The disgusting “upholstery” was actually more grody on the reverse side of the “fabric.” It was covered in a brown kind of rubberish stuff that looked and felt … [Read more...] about A Springy Chair and End Table

So... The good news is after a long week of working on the thing, I have finally finished the vanity commission to go along with the Lady's Sitting Chair. You'll remember, she started out looking like this: Here she is (finally united with the chair she inspired) after a coat of satin ivory, some hand-painted details, and just-the-right-amount of distressing: I managed to snap just this one photo, when a giant gust of wind took this photo shoot from sublime to … [Read more...] about The Lady’s Vanity OR When A Good Photo Shoot Goes BAD
After the mad push last week to get the Play Kitchen and Puppet Theater done, I was ready to start this week off with a simple, mindless kind of project. (BTW, I just like to say WOWEE!!! I've been completely blown away by everyone's incredible reception of these two projects! I'm especially humbled by Miss Funky Junk Donna's spectacular complements and her featuring BOTH projects on Funky Junk's Sidebar from the Saturday Nite Special Party this week!! LOVE Donna...) So, last weekend at … [Read more...] about A Quick French Country Headboard
Sorry for the longer-than-I-wanted absence. It's been one of those weeks where you have about 10 things needing your attention and nothing's getting completed. I finished the pair of armchairs that I had been working on. The stamp on the bottom said that these are from Henredon Fine Furniture, which (I learned from Google) is a very hoity toity big deal furniture company. They are very well made and comfy chairs. I showed you in my last post how they looked when I brought them home from the … [Read more...] about Damask and Denim
I made an adorable little back pillow for the Turquoise Chair last night. LOVE it!! Definitely puts the exclamation point on the project, don't you think? This one's ready to go... I'm going over to Cara's house this morning so we can work on a dining room table and chairs and the pair of arm chairs I picked up at the GW on Saturday. The creative juices are a-flowin'! Can't wait to get stuff done to show you all! SEE ALSO: A Comfy Cast-off OR A Turquoise Transformation Happy … [Read more...] about Final Touch on the Turquoise Chair!
