I told you guys a while ago about the china cabinet I repurposed into our entertainment center when we upgraded to a large flat screen a few years ago. It’s gone through a couple incarnations in our home, including the most recent off-whiteifying when we moved into our new home this past April. As I alluded to in the above post, I have endured lived with my husband’s 1990 Bose speaker beasts for the last 13.5 years. They came with him, which I knew from the beginning. His awesomeness far … [Read more...] about Evolution of a 60 Dollar Entertainment center and Homeright Giveaway!
I am SO excited to finally share this project with you! Along with building in cabinets and counters in my laundry (coming soon!), this was the heftiest DIY project I have ever taken on. (OK, my husband helped a little too, but only because you can’t mount cabinets single handedly.) I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out! When we moved in, there was about a six foot empty niche just beyond the laundry room. Here’s the layout to give you an idea of what I was working with. YOU … [Read more...] about Mudroom Built-Ins
old, gray, weathered pallet + colorful, salvage, water valves = rad coat rack This was a quick (well, quick if you don’t spend hours searching for the right sized screws) and simple project that packs big visual punch. I love salvaged pieces assembled for practical use! Wouldn’t this look great in an entry way, mud room, or boy’s bedroom? Taking it down to Livy Lous, or email me if you’re interested. Happy hump day! … [Read more...] about Salvage Water Valve Pallet Coat Rack

As I said in my last post, I’m feeling reinvigorated to start painting new furniture again. But I haven’t had time yet to start. So I just keep amassing all these great pieces, waiting for the day I’ll be able to give them a few minutes of my stretched-thin attention. But I’m hopeful!! My wonderful mother-in-law has told me that she will come over one morning a week to watch my littlest two so I can get some painting in. (I love that woman!) So between that and maybe squeezing some in on … [Read more...] about More new furniture
My client picked up the Red Hutch on Wednesday, and she and her husband loved it! And I loved finishing the first piece in months! It’s such a rush for me. I only wish there were more hours in the day and more of me to go around. (Or maybe I could use a clone, or a wet nurse.) ;) My kids are my greatest creations and my life’s work, and the newborn season of life has it’s specific and intensive demands on time and attention (and sleep!), and that’s okay!! It’s just a season, and it will … [Read more...] about The Workshop State of Affairs
I was contacted a couple of months ago by a local woman wanting a custom refinish for a hutch that she had purchased. I timidly agreed, letting her know that I had just had a baby and wasn’t sure exactly how painting furniture was going to fit into my new mom-of-an-infant life. But as long as she could be patient with me and wasn’t in a huge hurry to get it back, I’d love to take it on. She has been extremely gracious and understanding and patient too, and I’m happy to say that it’s done! … [Read more...] about Red Glazed Hutch

It’s me! Boy, as I’m entering into my third trimester, I really feel myself slowing down quite a bit. As such, the furniture redos around these parts will be fewer and farther between.
