pWell, this week on The CSI Project, they’re having a Hardware Store Challenge. This is a project that I did many moons ago for my own hall bathroom. At the Goodwill one fine day, I came across a lovely ornately-carved wooden frame, housing a hideously ugly old Ozark barn painting that someone’s beloved grandpappy probably slaved over. (Sorry grandpappy…) The frame is nice sized for the space in there (26” square) and for the $2.50 price tag, I couldn’t say no. My hubby deleted the before … [Read more...] about Paint Chips Mosaic Art
I came across this little side table the other day at the Habitat Re-Store. It’s nothing like anything I’ve ever seen before, and for $7, I really couldn’t pass it up. You can see why it caught my eye: So fun! I hit ‘er with some Semi-gloss White Rustoleum spray paint, and did those fabulous pulls with some ORB. Then it sat, needing something. But what? Then I saw this post yesterday from Jenifer of The Magic Brush. She added some pizzaz to a jewelry chest with a great harlequin stencil … [Read more...] about Funky Harlequin Side Table
I don’t usually have very good luck on Dollar Thursday at Goodwill. I’ll pick up a little somethin’ here, a little somethin’ there, but never anything extraordinary. But last week, my thrifty little friends, the discount-shopping gods smiled upon me and I picked up a two-drawer chest (NEVER had a dollar day furniture find!) AND an awesome lamp for 2 singles! So I did a little dance of penny-pinchin’ joy, loaded them up, and took them home to work on. I’m still working on the lamp, but I … [Read more...] about 1 Dollar Chest of Drawers, Damask (Naturally)
If you haven't noticed, we like Damask 'round these parts. A quick peruse around blogland and one quickly sees that we're certainly not alone in a love of all things damask and flourish-like. As promised, I'm going to introduce you to my new-found love, Damask Dings. It's a FREE webdings-style font download from Nymphont, and I can already tell, it's going to be a fantastic weapon-of-choice in my crafting holster as I battle the forces of ugliness. (Did I just type that? Ehhh... … [Read more...] about Damask Dings, My New BFF
So... The good news is after a long week of working on the thing, I have finally finished the vanity commission to go along with the Lady's Sitting Chair. You'll remember, she started out looking like this: Here she is (finally united with the chair she inspired) after a coat of satin ivory, some hand-painted details, and just-the-right-amount of distressing: I managed to snap just this one photo, when a giant gust of wind took this photo shoot from sublime to … [Read more...] about The Lady’s Vanity OR When A Good Photo Shoot Goes BAD
After the mad push last week to get the Play Kitchen and Puppet Theater done, I was ready to start this week off with a simple, mindless kind of project. (BTW, I just like to say WOWEE!!! I've been completely blown away by everyone's incredible reception of these two projects! I'm especially humbled by Miss Funky Junk Donna's spectacular complements and her featuring BOTH projects on Funky Junk's Sidebar from the Saturday Nite Special Party this week!! LOVE Donna...) So, last weekend at … [Read more...] about A Quick French Country Headboard
I made an adorable little back pillow for the Turquoise Chair last night. LOVE it!! Definitely puts the exclamation point on the project, don't you think? This one's ready to go... I'm going over to Cara's house this morning so we can work on a dining room table and chairs and the pair of arm chairs I picked up at the GW on Saturday. The creative juices are a-flowin'! Can't wait to get stuff done to show you all! SEE ALSO: A Comfy Cast-off OR A Turquoise Transformation Happy … [Read more...] about Final Touch on the Turquoise Chair!
